Bo & Co – Customizable Typographic Posters

Bo & Co is a startup specializing in Scandinavian-style typographic interior posters, designed to be customized by the end user. As a new brand entering the market, Bo & Co needed a strong visual identity and a seamless digital experience to establish itself and attract customers. The service combines minimalist aesthetics with personal expression, allowing users to create unique posters through an intuitive online editor.

Project Brief

As a startup at the beginning of its journey, Bo & Co needed to build its brand presence from the ground up. The project focused on:

  • Brand Identity – Creating a recognizable and sophisticated visual identity that reflects the company’s typographic focus.

  • Web Platform & Editor – Designing an easy-to-use customization tool that encourages engagement and drives sales.

The key challenge was to craft a compelling and functional brand experience that would help establish Bo & Co in the competitive online interior decor market.

My Role

  1. Visual Identity & Art Direction – Developing the brand’s look and feel, including the logo, typography, and color scheme.

  2. Product & Experience Design – Designing the poster editor and website to be both visually appealing and user-friendly.

  3. UI & UX Design – Ensuring the platform was easy to navigate while maintaining a high-end, design-driven aesthetic.

  4. A developer from the client’s side handled the store functionality while I focused on ensuring a seamless and engaging design experience that would help position Bo & Co as a premium, customizable poster service.

Process & Impact

  1. Research & Benchmarking – Studied similar customization platforms to understand best practices in usability, conversion, and brand positioning.

  2. Visual Identity Development – Created a minimalist yet recognizable brand, featuring a stylized ampersand (&) and a refined black-and-white color palette.

  3. Editor & Web Design – Designed an intuitive and visually inspiring customization tool, making it easy for users to personalize posters.

  4. Testing & Iterative Refinement – As a startup with no budget for extensive research or usability testing, we mitigated this by gathering early feedback from friends and family, exposing them to the first iterations of the website and editor. This helped refine the user experience, spot pain points, and improve the flow before launching to a broader audience.
